Welcome to the Emergency Medicine department in San Jose

About Me

I decided to pursue medicine after my eight year old sister suffered a laceration to her lip after I lost control of my bicycle and ran into her. I remember how an emergency medicine physician repaired the laceration and made everything right. Now I have the privilege of playing the part of the Emergency physician. My special interest is bed side emergency ultrasound and early goal directed therapy. Outside of the emergency department my interests are spending quality time with my family and friends, running, cycling and basically anything that involves the outdoors.

I graduated from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. I continued my medical career at Johns Hopkins Hospital where I completed two years of general surgery. I also completed two years of general surgery research, in which my focus was on the inflammatory response to stress, sepsis and the biology of Laparoscopic Surgery. I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis. There my passion increased when I became a member of the Emergency team and it gave me the opportunity to deal with all types of pathology. I decided to continue Emergency Medicine at Kaiser due to the fact that patients have great follow-up, and preventive medicine is paramount.

My philosophy of care is to listen to the patient and provide the best care possible. Don’t forget to register to be a member on kp.org. This is an easy way for us to communicate and for you to obtain medical results in a timely fashion.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
