Hi and welcome to my home page!

I'm a former east coaster from Long Island, New York living the life in "sunny" San Francisco! I went to New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, then specialized in anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Subsequently, I completed my fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I spent many years in Philadelphia pondering over which cheesesteak was best. My conclusion: Pat's King of Steaks!

After my fellowship, I moved back to Manhattan and was an instructor at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center of New York. I trained residents and practiced in many areas of anesthesiology. My areas of expertise there included pediatric liver and small bowel transplantation, surgical procedures for children with congenital heart disease, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, anesthesia for dental surgery in children with genetic and congenital diseases, and anesthesia for MRI, Cat Scans and GI endoscopic procedures.

After many east coast winters, I decided to pack up and move to California. I was recruited by Oakland Medical Center in 2003 to start providing pediatric anesthesia services for Kaiser members. A new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit had opened up and the hospital was recruiting various pediatric surgical subspecialties. Since then, our practice has grown and I enjoy being part of a department staffed with excellent clinicians.

Also, feel free to explore the various links, especially the one about anesthesia and safety in children called SmartTots.
