About Me

I currently work in the Adult Medicine Department at Kaiser Permanente Delta Fair. I provide mental health services to individuals who are suffering from a variety of physical complaints and/or medical problems, which typically have been made worse by stress, anxiety, or depression. Depression and anxiety amplify physical symptoms, and through the process of identifying and addressing relevant mental health issues, both physical and mental suffering can be lessened. I work closely with your primary care doctor, as we collaborate together in coordinating your care.

I developed an interest in this area (called behavior medicine/health psychology) after doing a predoctoral and postdoctoral internship in health psychology at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans hospital in Loma Linda, California from 1984-1985. I went to work for Kaiser Permanente in 1990 and initially worked in the Outpatient Psychiatry department for about ten years. During the final two years in the Psychiatry Department, I spent time developing the behavior medicine program in the Adult Medicine department at Kaiser Permanente Delta Fair, and beginning in 1998 began working there full time.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
