Hello, and thanks for visiting my home page.
When I tell people I work as an emergency physician, I often follow-up with
the caveat that they don't want to see me at work. I hope that, if you are
viewing this after seeing me in the emergency room, your visit was as
comfortable as possible given the circumstances.
I have been practicing emergency medicine since the early 1990's and still
enjoy all that it affords me. Caring for people is truly a rewarding
experience, and I value the opportunity I have in the Emergency Department
at South Sacramento Kaiser.
In addition to my work, I also very much enjoy my time off, and fill it up
with activities with my wife and four children, spending time with friends,
and many athletic ventures; which, by the way, have landed me in the ER and
the operating room on more than one occasion. Fortunately, my experiences as
a patient went well and gave me the perspective to understand how difficult
it can be lying on a bed or being with a loved one in the emergency
department.
Again, I hope not to see you at work; but if so, I will do my best, and wish
you all the best. Jon.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
