Welcome to my web page!

I moved to the Bay Area in July of 2003. I was born and raised on the East Coast, and received my medical training in New York City. I come from a family of physicians - my father is an internist, my sister and brother-in-law are surgeons, and my wife is an oncologist.

I specialize in advanced laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery (MIS). MIS benefits the patient in many ways including less pain, shorter hospital stays, smaller scars and a quicker return to your pre-surgery life. Advanced laparoscopic surgeons can perform most traditional open surgeries through smaller incisions. I believe in using advanced minimally invasive technology, combined with compassionate care, whenever possible.

I perform single incision surgery - find out more

As a board-certified general surgeon, I also enjoy taking care of patients with breast disease and skin cancers, in addition to my laparoscopic practice.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since July, 2003. I enjoy practicing with friendly, caring colleagues and up-to-date medical care, plus the diverse patient population at the Oakland Medical Center. I am also a member of SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons).

Please see the left-side column for helpful links and information about common surgical diseases and minimally invasive options.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
