My Biography
I first arrived at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco in 1989 as an Internal Medicine intern. In 1994, I returned after my Anesthesia residency at UCSF. I came back because my father, who was gravely ill at the time, was being treated at San Francisco Medical Center. I stayed because of the dedicated, caring people with whom I work, the integrated style of our practice, and because of the wonderful patients I have had the privilege of helping.
I am an anesthesiologist, a physician who specializes in the care of patients during the perioperative period, the period of time before, during, and after surgery. It is my responsibility to ensure that patients are safe, stable, and comfortable during this period and are able to successfully undergo the rigors of surgery. Protecting and preserving the health of patients is professionally and personally satisfying to me.
In addition to my medical responsibilities, I serve as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services. In that role, I work with the medical center leaders to maintain and improve the care we provide to our patients. Our collective goal is to provide safe, high-quality, service-oriented, and efficient care.
Please let me know via the kp.org secure messaging feature if you receive anything less!
Outside of work, I enjoy exercising regularly, reading various works of fiction and history, exploring and experiencing the City and, most importantly, being with my family.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
