My Biography
I became interested in cardiac physiology after spending an undergraduate summer at UC Davis’ Cardiology department. I worked with a senior cardiologist there as part of a student research fellowship. I also received a research fellowship through the American heart Association. After medical school, I sought to work in an environment where I could make decisions that were patient-driven, rather than incentive-driven. I didn’t want to concern myself with reimbursements, insurance coverages, or the bureaucratic aspects of running a practice. At Kaiser Permanente, I had the opportunity to join a highly-skilled group of cardiovascular anesthesiologists, a group that is the equal of any medical practice in the country. Cardiac anesthesia interests me from both a practical and an intellectual perspective. The field requires a team of professionals who are at the top of their game. Areas of particular interest to me include transesophogeal electrocardiography, a technical modality that I use to visualize the heart’s structure, and to assist with diagnostic findings. If warranted, I can make a judicious change in course based on those findings. It’s an incredible technological tool.
When I am away from work, I enjoy playing golf, reading about any historical topics, studying and learning about all things Italian, and traveling, especially to Italy. I consider myself to be a healthy eater, and I THRIVE through lifting weights, working out on the elliptical bike, swimming, and opting for the stairs over the elevator. I am married with two children, two stepchildren, four grandchildren, and an Italian godson. I look forward to welcoming you to the Cardiovascular Anesthesiology department at San Francisco Medical Center.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
