Thanks for looking at my home page.

I am the Chief of the Pathology Department for the Kaiser Permanente Greater Southern Alameda Area. That means I am a part time administrator but I still enjoy spending most of my time in patient care. The pathologists are consultants for all of the physicians who perform surgical procedures and biopsies. We provide the diagnoses that guide your plan of care. It is a wonderful specialty that still keeps me interested after more than 20 years of practice. I also serve at a regional level planning for technology acquisitions in the clinical laboratory and chairing the Chiefs of Pathology peer group. When not at work you will find me puttering around the garden or out at sea catching fish.

My Credentials

Medical school Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO
Internship Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA
Residency Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA
Board certification Pathology - Anatomic and Clinical, American Board of Pathology

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
