My Profession

I’m a family physician. I chose this specialty because it allows one to be able to address the majority of problems seen in every day clinical practice while providing practical experience in minor surgical procedures, gynecology, and acute care.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy requires that I establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and families and that I maintain my knowledge of the most current therapies.

I have enjoyed my time at Kaiser Permanente as a member of the hospital-based specialty team. The work can be intense and stressful but being there for patients and their families during emotional times can be tremendously rewarding.

Why I Like Working at Kaiser Permanente

I like practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente because my colleagues are such capable physicians. In this environment, we are not competing against each other for patients or contracts with insurers. Instead, I am able to tap the knowledge of all the specialties in order to complement the care I am able to give.

My Credentials

Medical school Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA
Internship UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Residency UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Board certification Family Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

  • California Medical Association
  • California Association of Family Physicians

My Personal History

I was born in San Jose, California. My high school was in Cupertino at Homestead High School class of 1985. I went to college at University of California Santa Barbara. My wife and I have two sons. I am bilingual in Spanish.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
