My Biography
I enjoy living in the Bay Area. Its topography, climate, and culture are very appealing. Kaiser Permanente allows me the unusual opportunity to practice my profession without the burdens of office overhead and finding clinical referrals. I enjoy the ready access of knowledgeable associates and colleagues for timely consultation and advice. Our comprehensive care model provides access to preventive, acute, chronic, and home care for patients, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The aspect of my work that I most enjoy is the satisfaction of significantly improving a patient’s quality of life, and the real possibility of adding years to that life through teaching and surgery. Special interests of mine include minimal invasive surgery, off-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), percutaneous tracheostomies, permanent pacemaker implantation, and critical care management.
During my leisure time I enjoy gardening, photography, and boating. I walk three to five miles daily, swim laps when the weather permits, and work out at the gym when injuries—or rather, the lack thereof—allows. I am married to my best friend, Hildegard, and together we enjoy two grown children and two granddaughters.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
