Welcome to my home page. I hope you can learn more about me and my practice of medicine.

About Me

I was born and raised in Ligonier, PA, a small rural community. My aunt is a physician/pathologist and she inspired me to become a doctor as well as helped me out along the way. I am interested in both sciences and humanities. I think that focus has helped me better understand the situations in which my patients are facing. Being a physician has been a strong positive influence in my life.

I received my medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, PA, formerly known as Women’s Medical College. The unique small institution atmosphere of the college was definite advantage during my training. The professors there took a personal interest in all their students. This certainly had a positive influence on my training. Initially interested in surgery, I completed an internship in Surgery from University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. I found that I had broader interests in medicine and enjoyed seeing the more acutely ill, so I turned my attention to the new specialty at the time, which is Emergency Medicine. I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine from Los Angeles County/ University of Southern California (LAC-USC) Medical Center at Los Angeles, CA.

I enjoyed Emergency Medicine greatly and I had worked in busy emergency departments for more then 23 years. I served as the director of an emergency department for more than 10 years and also have been privileged to serve as an oral examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. During the last five years, I worked as an urgent care doctor and have enjoyed the change of pace. I decided to join Kaiser Permanente because this organization has the extensive resources needed to deliver excellent care in the current health care environment.

My personal interests include skiing and photography. My parents are still living in Pennsylvania and in my spare-time I am involved in church activities.

My Philosophy of Care

My job is to deliver care in an emergency room setting. I enjoy seeing the acutely ill and diagnosing as well as treating their problems. My goal is to give the best care possible to the acutely ill in a timely fashion. I believe in communication with my patients and meeting their needs with intelligence, experience and compassion.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing as patient if the need should arise.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
