Greetings!

I am told that the “hits” on my home page have increased from 1/month to about 50/month so I thought it would be timely to put some truly useful information on this posting.

My preference for patient communication is email. You may use the "E-mail your doctor" link above.

My Education and Training

After my medical education and residency training, I toyed with staying in academia at Harvard, but my wife wanted to move to California, more specifically to Sacramento. Thus, I started my practicing life as a staff neurologist on June 30th, 1975, at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital on Morse Avenue. I was there from 1975 to 1984, at which time I moved to the new Kaiser facility in South Sacramento to become Chief of my own department of Neurology. I was elected to fellowship status in the American Academy of Neurology in 1981.

It has been highly rewarding over the past 20 years creating an institution in South Sacramento where high quality medicine is practiced, where access for patients is easy, and where staff are productive and happy. I have also maintained a teaching appointment at UCD Medical Center since 1976.

My Credentials

Medical school Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA
Internship Children's Hospital, Boston, MA
Residency Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston, MA
Board certification Neurology, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Outside Interests

My interests outside work include computer-related activity at which I am not very skilled, hiking, dining out with friends, red wine, shooting, travel and keeping our house warm when it is cold, and cold when it is warm. My wife is a dermatologist that also practices at Kaiser. She is exceedingly skilled at her profession.

My wife loves cats, so consequently I have to love cats too. At least, I think our current cat is exceptionally cute. Her name is Francie and you can see her picture when you click the link. She is a Maine Coon, about 14 pounds in weight, and is the main traffic director in our house.

I look forward to meeting you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
