E KOMO MAI! IAORANA! BIENVENIDOS! WELCOME!

My name is Johanna Martinezmoles and I am a genetic counselor here at Kaiser. Many people are unclear as to what a genetic counselor does. Genetic counselors are health professionals with specialized graduate degrees and experience in the areas of medical genetics and counseling. Genetic counselors work as members of a health care team, providing information and support to families who have members with birth defects or genetic disorders and to families who may be at risk for a variety of inherited conditions.

I am also a bilingual counselor, speaking Spanish as my second language. When I’m not at work, I enjoy quilting, cross-stitching, traveling and Polynesian dancing. I belong to Halau Aloha Polynesia here in Sacramento. I also enjoy volunteer work through Hands-On Sacramento and speaking at middle schools and high schools about genetic counseling.
