My Biography

I graduated Suma Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA. After that, I attended the UCLA School of Medicine. I then traveled to New York to become a pathologist at Columbia. After a year, I switched specialties and completed my internal medicine residency at New York University (VA program). I went to Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center to work for a year before coming out to San Francisco in 2003 to join Kaiser Permanente San Francisco.

I have been with the Hospital Medicine Department of the Permanente Medical Group at San Francisco since 2003. As a "hospitalist," I care for acutely ill hospitalized patients until they are discharged and return to the care of their outpatient primary care doctors. As Kaiser Permanente San Francisco is an academic teaching institution, you will often find me supervising a team of physicians who are in training (residents). I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSF, so you will often see me walking with, and teaching, medical students from UCSF as well.

What I enjoy the most about Kaiser Permanente San Francisco is the exceptionally high quality of physicians and nurses that I work with. Having worked at various places throughout my career, I was, and I continue to be, very impressed and satisfied by the level of commitment to excellent that our hospitalist group and our medical center have in caring for our patients.

I am happily married with two beautiful daughters. My hobbies include snowboarding and running around chasing my kids. Ever since medical school I have been very active with my church. I have gone on several Christian medical mission trips, caring for the poor in various parts of the world, as well as volunteering at local Christian homeless clinics.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
