My Biography

San Francisco Medical Center offers me the opportunity to work with a terrific, diverse spectrum of patients. Our health care system is centralized, personal, integrated, and accessible. Patients will find a gateway to a wealth of expertise, and our ancillary services provide ample support. Within this kind of health care model, physicians are able to concentrate fully on delivering the most optimal care possible for each member. Health Connect is our extremely comprehensive electronic medical records system, allowing me to communicate with each clinician on a patient’s care team. I am able to track and capture the full scope of a patient’s progress, and to follow patient/clinician interactions on a voluminous scale. Health Connect provides unmatched advantages and benefits for both patient and provider.

I work in partnership with my patients, helping them comprehend the various facets of their care so that they will know how to best care for themselves, and be enabled to arrive at sound decisions for themselves and their families. My approach is open, flexible, and honest. I try to be a good listener and I enjoy tackling problems from a variety of perspectives.

Aside from my medical center practice, I teach in UCSF’s Community Faculty Teaching program, where I interact with young, up-and-coming physicians, sharing my knowledge and “tools of the trade” with them. I also serve as a preceptor with the Martin Baro Free Medical Clinic. The clinic, which is run by SFSU medical students, provides free walk-in care to anyone who comes in.

I keep healthy and active by trying to consume fewer fatty foods and avoiding inactivity. My three sons are the most significant aspect of my life, and they come first in everything. My hobbies include working and tinkering with computers, mechanics of all sorts, such as auto mechanics, and building things with my hands; I am a definite do-it-yourself person! In my spare time, I also enjoy digital photography.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
