Welcome to My Home Page

About Me

I am a native Southern Californian; I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Huntington Beach. I attended Stanford University as an undergraduate studying biological sciences and economics. I then moved to Washington DC to attend medical school at George Washington University. For my residency training in orthopaedic surgery, I returned back to Southern California at the University of California, Irvine.

I moved up to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 for my fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. After completing my fellowship, I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001.

After a long road of training, I am very happy and feel privileged to be in this profession. I was inspired to choose orthopedic surgery in medical school after working with some of my mentors who were people that were innovative thinkers and talented technicians. I value how orthopedic surgery helps restore function and helps to improve a patient's ability to return back to a better quality of life.

My practice has a sports medicine focus within a general orthopedic practice. I perform shoulder and knee arthroscopic/open reconstructive procedures and arthroplasty, hip replacement surgery, hand surgery, and fracture reconstruction in trauma.

I have found that working at Kaiser Permanente has allowed me to focus on practicing medicine and not on running a business. It provides a unified approach to patient care between the primary physician and the specialists. The physicians at Kaiser Permanente provide care based on evidence-based medicine, where the physician is in charge of treatment decisions, not third party groups. I think that you will find here a group of wonderful, respected, and dedicated physicians.

On a personal note, I grew up playing classical piano and enjoying the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, skiing, art, and yoga.

I look forward to meeting you at your appointment!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
