Welcome to Physical Therapy! I look forward to working with you!
About Me
I thought I’d introduce myself and tell you a little about myself. I was born in Abington, Pa. and grew up in a small town called Huntingdon Valley, Pa. I was attending college in the Pocono Mountains with the hopes of being an elementary school teacher when my path suddenly changed. I took a judo class and boy oh boy, did I do the flip the “wrong way”! Suddenly, I needed physical therapy! As a patient in a P.T. department, I became really excited about this career because I wanted to help people in such a fun environment… and well, the rest is history! I transferred to PT school and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Initially, when I graduated, I worked in a traditional hospital setting for seven years, treating both in-patients and out-patients in the Philadelphia area. Then I moved to San Jose and joined the Kaiser team at the San Jose facility. Here I worked solely with out-patients, treating a variety of orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems for twelve years. I stopped my career to be a full time Mom and raise two children. I then re-joined the staff and have been able to mesh once again with wonderful people. Returning to San Jose Physical Therapy Department has been very rewarding for me and speaks highly for the quality of care our department offers. I love working here because I feel I have re-joined my “other” family. Here at San Jose, I feel happy to be part of a great team to help you.
What to Expect
Before your initial visit, I have reviewed your chart and have become familiar with your medical history and previous therapy you may have had in the past. On your initial visit, I will evaluate you and then based on these findings; I will formulate a treatment plan. We can work together on your treatment and I will teach you preventative measures to keep you healthy also. More than likely, you’ll be given a home exercise program so that you can continue to reap the rewards of a healthy body on an on-going basis. If the need arises, I will be communicating with your referring physician as well. And, a good positive outlook helps tremendously too - after all, who do you think gets better faster - the one who sees his cup half full or half empty? The trio of mind, body, soul cannot be separated. This is what is meant by treating the “whole” person.
So, enjoy your physical therapy. I encourage you to telephone me with any questions you might have during your visits (the telephone number you can reach me at is 972-3510).
PS - Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, white water rafting, X-country skiing, and camping- especially in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. When I am in the beauty and stillness of the Mountains, I am at peace and I literally feel like I’ve just experienced a slice of heaven!
