Welcome

Welcome to the San Rafael Plastic Surgery Department of which I am a member. I hope this site will provide useful information, handouts, and web links for you. Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated. Please fell free to share them with me.

Interests

While the Department of Plastic Surgery in San Rafael provides both cosmetic and reconstructive Plastic Surgery, I have chosen to concentrate my practice entirely on reconstruction including hand surgery and microvascular reconstruction particularly of the breast. I have done subspecialty training in craniofacial, cleft lip and palate surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and microsurgery.

My practice philosophy is the try to treat each person as I would want myself or my family to be treated. I am board certified in Plastic Surgery by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. I am additionally board certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Personal Biography

A little about myself, I was born and raised in the Cajun corner of Texas in the petrochemical swamp. My family decamped to Gent, Belgium when I was 15. I graduated from the high school in Brussels and then moved back to Texas. Major culture shocks were experienced each way. University and medical training took me from Texas to Vancouver, British Columbia; Philadelphia; Albuquerque,Tuscaloosa; Los Angeles; Salt Lake City and finally to Marin County. Home at last. I have enjoyed seeing the world through hospital windows.

Associated with my love of reconstructive plastic surgery has been the great privilege of doing international surgical service work cleft lip and palate repairs, hand surgery, and burn reconstruction). My vacations in the past 15 years taken me to Argentina ,Bolivia, Bosnia, China, Croatia, Guatemala, , Nicaragua, Palestine, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam with Operation Smile, Rotaplast, Alliance for Smiles, and Faces of Hope. The Permanent Medical Group is very generous and supportive of their doctors doing service work and its support has been invaluable for all of us.

My off hours at home are filled with my vibrant 91 year old mother and her pals at Aldersley Retirement community, friends in Sausalito and Marin, and my beloved border collies and the Marin Humane society.
