Welcome to My Home Page!
My colleagues and I designed My Doctor Online to make it easier for you to take care of your health care needs. We've included a variety of superior online programs and health information that we have evaluated or written ourselves. Providing you with only the highest quality materials demonstrates our commitment to giving you the best quality care.
Background
I began my practice of anesthesia as a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1992. As an educator, I had the opportunity to teach future doctors and anesthesiologists as well as broaden my personal horizons with other subspecialty work, such as cardiovascular anesthesia and critical care medicine. It also gave me the opportunity to integrate my internal medicine training with my anesthesiology career.
I came to Fresno in 1999, practicing anesthesia and cardiovascular anesthesia while continuing my association with the University of California, San Francisco Fresno Medical Education Program. I have had the pleasure to function in administrative and teaching roles during my time in Fresno. I joined the anesthesia team here at Kaiser Permanente Fresno in 2006.
Roles and Responsibilities
I have had a varied and interesting career. I believe it gives me a broad perspective about the hospital, my patients, and the impact my specialty of anesthesia has on them. I believe that every one of my patients deserves to be treated the way I would want any of my closest family to be treated with respect, thoughtfulness, and most importantly, careful consideration of his or her medical condition.
My Colleagues
I have the pleasure of working with an outstanding group of Anesthesia professionals which includes both Doctors and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. We function as a care team to provide seamless high quality care. Our team is well known in this Medical Center, this city, and in all of Northern California to function at the highest levels of Safety and Professional Standards. I have the utmost respect for my colleagues, and this will translate into reproducibly excellent care for our members.
Family and Friends
Having lived on both coasts, in the Northeast, the South, the Midwest, and the West, I am lucky to have family and friends both across the United States and overseas in Scotland. I am fortunate to be able to know most of them well and to see many of them frequently. These close relationships have greatly enriched the lives of myself and my entire family.
Hobbies and Interest
When not at work I enjoy traveling, cooking, exercising, skiing, inline skating, playing guitar, attending theatre, and being involved with my three daughters and all their many sports, school and extracurricular activities.
Recent Adventures
As part of an international family, I frequently travel outside of the United States, particularly to Scotland and the United Kingdom where my daughter attends college and my wife’s family still lives. Another daughter and I participate in Operation Rainbow medical missions to Central and South America to help provide complex Orthopedic care to people living in places where such care is not available. Our family also loves to spend time all over the United States taking advantage of the new adventures each destination has to offer.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
