My Biography

I lived in the Bay Area for 10 years prior to moving to the East Coast to complete my medical school and adult psychiatry training. After finishing my training, I worked at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts where I specialized in inpatient and outpatient work in schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. I also had a private practice where I did psychodynamic psychotherapy and medication management. Just prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I worked for the County of Santa Clara in the outpatient mental health department. In addition to general adult psychiatry, my professional areas of interest include bipolar and psychotic disorders and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Multiple reasons led to my choice to work at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, such as my appreciation for the rich diversity of the San Francisco community, and how Kaiser Permanente provides an environment where I can continue to expand my skills as a clinician, as I learn new things from my patients and colleagues. The well-integrated medical system allows me to focus on each individual’s story set in the context of other medical care. It also provides for easy collaboration with patients and other providers.

I mainly work in outpatient psychiatry with a portion of my time devoted to hospital consult-liaison work.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, photography, and spending time with family and friends. I’ve recently moved back to San Francisco, and look forward to exploring new restaurants and activities in the city.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
