How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I discovered Kaiser Permanente San Francisco when I came out to the facility as a traveling nurse. I chose to stay because of its work ethic of placing patients first and practicing evidence (research)-based medicine. I also liked the San Francisco weather, cultural diversity, and the many open attitudes I found here in the city.

What I enjoy most about delivering health care is the personal interaction with members, teaching, and empowering patients to take control of their health. It’s fulfilling to care for patients when they’re very ill, assisting them through the recovery and discharge phases. I like the way other nurse practitioners (NPs) and cardiologists work together as a team. Doctors understand and accept the role of nurse practitioners, and they are fairly supportive advocates. This is particularly impressive in light of the fact that NPs have only been in the hospital setting for about 10 years.

Our patients say that nurses and cardiologists in our department provide top-notch care. I believe part of the reason they say this is because our comprehensive care model allows us to hone in on testing and labs that need to be done at the time of the patient’s visit—even if that is not the presenting reason for their visit.

My professional and research interests are preventative cardiology, acute coronary syndrome, critical care medicine, congestive heart failure, and pain management. I attend conferences with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and I also attend the UCSF Congestive Heart failure conference.

I find many ways to help myself thrive, some of which include healthy eating, patronizing farmers’ markets, relaxing, walking, and using the stairs at work instead of elevators. Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, camping, bicycling, reading, snowboarding, and spending time with my husband.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
