Welcome to my Home Page

I am a board certified emergency physician (American Board of Emergency Medicine)who specializes in acute care. I enjoy the challenge of treating and diagnosing acute medical and surgical conditions. The Emergency Department also gives me the opportunity to experience pathology in all areas of medicine. I have worked for Kaiser Permanente since 1999 and have no regrets. The integrated approach of medical specialties with primary care physicians lends itself to a collaborative workplace. I really feel privileged to be here doing what I love.

I am also involved in the University of California Emergency Residency Program, and I am the Residency Director at South Sacramento. I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine, University of California, Davis. Teaching residents to become excellent emergency physicians is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. Having residents in our department makes me a better doctor as I try to stay current and model compassionate care for our patients.

My wife and I have been blessed with three girls, followed by a boy. They range from 2 to 14 years old and keep us very busy. Our Saturdays are full of soccer games and musical shows, so subsequently I work a lot of nights. We try to stay active in their school as art docents. I am also a Varsity Scout leader and teach the 14-16 year old Sunday School class at our church.

I try to stay active by biking and running. In the last year I have run 2 marathons and have biked in several century rides. I also get to the gym a few times a week and enjoy most sports and spending time with my family.

Thanks for visiting my home page.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
