Welcome to my home page
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my philosophy towards patient care. For me, medicine has always been about keeping people as active and high functioning as possible. Orthopedics, and specifically hand surgery, allows me to work with patients to directly improve the very things that are holding them back. This does not mean that surgery is always advocated; rather, it is only one of many techniques (most of which are non-operative) that combine to form a comprehensive treatment plan.
I have an interest and specialized training in disorders of the upper extremity, from the hand to the elbow to the shoulder. I have also been involved with numerous research studies looking to understand the underlying causes of orthopedic conditions.
My professional affiliations include the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my wife, who is also a physician at Kaiser Permanente. I also like cooking and eating, diving, and traveling. Golf is in the near future.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
