Education

My Biography

Prior to joining the therapy department in South San Francisco, I completed my Clinical Fellowship Year at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, where I worked primarily in the acute rehab setting. My internship was completed at the UC San Francisco Head and Neck Cancer Center and the ALS Center.

In addition to my graduate degree and experience in Speech Pathology, I earned a Master of Arts (1995) and Bachelor of Arts (1989) in Drama, and an Associate of Arts in Journalism (1987).

When I’m not at work, I can usually be found riding my bicycle, swimming in the SF Bay, or hunched over my typewriter at home in the City.

Our Department and Services

Serving under the auspices of the Physical Therapy Dept., I provide comprehensive, short term speech and language assessment and therapy for adults in the areas of aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, traumatic brain injury, and disorders of voice and swallowing. When possible, I emphasize self-management techniques.

I work collaboratively with you and your personal physician or nurse practitioner to develop a program tailored to the specific needs of your case. Services may include compensatory techniques and home-based exercise programs.

How to Get Care

New patients are seen by referral from your personal physician or nurse practitioner.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
