Dr. Henney received both her undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences and her MD degree (1976) from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She completed her residency in Anesthesia in Scotland and at Kingston on Thames and the Westminster Hospitals in London.

Following a fellowship in Anesthesia at Guy’s Hospital in London, Dr. Henney spent eighteen months at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Following a year and a half teaching at Stanford, Dr. Henney joined The Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in 1989.

At this time, Dr. Henney is very interested in using alternative techniques to improve the overall perioperative experience. To this end, she was very instrumental in introducing Peggy Huddleston’s Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster workshops to Kaiser Santa Clara. They give presurgical patients tools and techniques to reduce preoperative anxiety, organize psychological support, lessen the use of pain medication following surgery and enhance the healing process.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
