My Qualifications

My training is in Family Practice Medicine, which has provided me a great sense of the importance of caring for my patient as an individual. I am very interested in intensive care medicine within the hospital setting, due to the complex and exciting nature of the decisions involved in this level of care.

I have been with TPMG since March, 2000. I worked for two years at the Rancho Cordova facility in the outpatient setting before coming over to HBS.

My Credentials

Medical school UC Irvine School of Medicine, Irvine, CA
Internship Merced Community Medical Center, Merced, CA
Residency Merced Community Medical Center, Merced, CA
Board certification Family Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine

My Healthcare Practice

I work as a hospital-based physician, primarily in Roseville, CA in the adult medicine department. Although this field is somewhat unfamiliar to many people, modern medicine is complicated enough so that taking care of patients in the hospital is becoming a specialty unto itself.

I chose this area of medicine because working with the most complex and challenging illnesses is very gratifying and allows me to use all of my clinical skills on a daily basis. It also provides the opportunity to truly help patients and their families through what can be a very difficult and trying time.

I have always believed that the patient should be very well-informed regarding their health and medical conditions, and must be actively involved in decisions regarding their health. I gain a great deal of satisfaction from taking time to educate patients regarding their conditions, and feel strongly that it is time very well spent both in terms of empowering the patient to make decisions, and in de-mystifying what can be a frightening situation for the patient.

Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente offers what I believe is an unequalled opportunity to work within an integrated healthcare system. This allows me to more efficiently manage my patient and provide for his or her needs. The level of technology made available to us is invaluable in handling the array of information for each person under my care.

Working as a hospital-based doctor has allowed me to practice medicine with some truly outstanding and dedicated individuals. I am continually impressed with the level of care they provide, and the collegial spirit of the doctors with whom I am associated.

About Me

I was born and raised in Canada (the "Great White North"), but after a couple of particularly frosty winters, I moved to California where I completed all of my training. I have three sons and a stepson who keep me extremely busy when I'm not at work. In my free time, I enjoy sports, music, and may even find time to get in some travel at some point.
