About Me
I graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley, completed medical school at UC San Diego, residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine at UCSD Medical Center. After all those years of training, I then moved back to the Bay Area to practice at Kaiser. I chose to be a Kaiser Permanente physician because I wanted to focus solely on the practice of medicine, and not the business of medicine. I am proud to be a member of this organization because I am part of a team of dedicated physicians striving to deliver the best evidence-based and compassionate care.
As a pulmonologist and intensivist, I take care of patients with lung disease and critically ill patients in the ICU. The practice of pulmonary and critical care medicine is a challenging and gratifying experience, because I am able to help some of our sickest patients. It is also at times a heartbreaking experience, because despite all our best efforts, despite the most advanced medical technology, we are not always able to cure disease. But I am grateful that I am at least able to impact these patients' lives in some way--offer comfort, and relieve suffering.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
