Welcome to My Home Page!

Background

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, I had my first introduction to the Bay Area when I attended Stanford University for college. At Stanford, I double majored in Biology and Economics and discovered my natural inclination to care for others. This ultimately led me to a career in medicine. Although my training has spanned from Coast to Coast, many of my fondest memories are from college and the Bay Area. I always knew that I would return.

Practice Philosophy

I believe in empowering patients to take an active role in their own medical care. I like to take the time to inform patients of their diagnosis and all of the available treatment options. Working at Kaiser Permanente enables me to devote my time to patient care without worrying about the business aspect of medicine. Treatment is therefore based upon the best interests of the patient without third party pressures.

Professional Practice

I have a general orthopedic practice with a sports medicine focus. I perform hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, general hand surgery, and trauma surgery.

As one of the former team physicians for the Boston Celtics and the Northeastern University Huskies, I have a special interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. This includes ACL reconstructions, meniscal repairs, meniscal transplants, cartilage preserving surgeries of the knee, all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, and shoulder stabilization surgery.

Personal Interests

I am an avid Chicago sports fan. As a loyal follower of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls, I have been faithful through good times and bad. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
