My approach to patient care is based on prevention, which is at first glance somewhat odd given that I work as a hospitalist who deals with some of the end stage result of disease processes. I feel that patients in the hospital setting may be somewhat more receptive to advice regarding lifestyle changes and adherence to medical regiments. I highly recommend exercise and eating a healthy, balance diet as part of a healthy lifestyle.

About Me:

I've spent most of my life in Southern California. My first airplane trip was when I went to Florida for a summer of research in marine biology. I enjoyed research but found the laboratory somewhat sterile of human interactions. Therefore, I turned to medicine and internal medicine in particular. I was attracted to opportunity and the privilege of being a part of people's lives as we work together to improve their health.

Aside from English, I speak conversational Cantonese and Medical Spanish.

My Background:

I obtained my medical degree from University of Southern California, School of Medicine. I continued my training at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

My Interests:

  • Professionally, my interests include patient education and end of life issues.
  • When not at work, my interests range from back packing in the outdoors to avidly devouring a book in two days time.

Recommendations:

One of the things that struck me during my medical training was that many of the illnesses we encounter are related to unhealthy lifestyles. If people exercised, ate a healthy diet, and avoided smoking, there would be fewer people who develop chronic diseases. It is a privilege for me to work together with you to improve your health.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA
Residency Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, CA

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
