Welcome to my practice!
About me…

I was born and raised here in the bay area. I obtained my B.A. in Psychology at U.C. Berkeley. After several years in the health care field as an EMT, I pursued a Master’s in Physician Assistant studies at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland.

I am currently a physician assistant in the orthopedics spine surgery department. The department itself is fairly new to San Jose Medical Center but is growing very quickly and successfully. I am very excited to have become part of the team here and ensuring the best care we have to offer. I have always had an interest in medicine despite the fact that no one in my family was involved in medicine. It just came down to business, law or medicine and to me, medicine was the obvious choice. I just couldn't see myself plugging numbers away or reading till my vision became blurry. I chose to become a physician assistant because I feel that I will be able to best optimize my skills in patient care. What I love about medicine is interacting with my patients and working together with them to ensure the best care available. This includes explaining the etiology of the symptoms, the treatments available and ensuring preventative health.

My interests…

  • My clinical interests include Cardiothoracic and Orthopedic surgery.
  • In my spare time, I enjoy spending my time at the gym (people who know me say that I am a gym junkie), tennis, skiing, snowboarding, and many other various outdoor activities. I am currently trying my best to find an affordable home in the bay area which many people respond by just shaking their head sympathetically at me. Oh well...

In addition to English, I also speak Spanish.

My philosophy:

I believe that the patient is the only person who can truly control their well-being. This includes taking care of themselves on a regular basis, seeking help when needed, and making the final decisions when it comes down to their treatment plan. My purpose is to educate and guide them through the whole process. I recommend regular follow-ups and doing everything possible, including regular exercise and tobacco avoidance in order to ensure the best outcome from surgery. I encourage patients to write down all their questions before the visit so that every point will not be missed. This is important so that everyone will have a clear view of their options and the surgery if they choose to. I chose to work at Kaiser due to the tremendous amount of resources available at my disposal, including many of the excellent facilities outside of the San Jose Medical Center. Other reasons include Kaiser's integrated network of databases along with technologically advance electronic information systems. Most important of all is the opportunity to work with a great group of dedicated health care professionals and staff.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
