My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Department of Psychiatry. I provide individual and group therapy for people going through emotional difficulties. I chose this work because I find great meaning in helping people regain their strength to face the challenges in their lives.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe people are resilient, creative, and smart. I consider each person to be the expert about how it feels to live his or her own life. My philosophy is to help people identify skills they already have, learn new skills, and apply these skills to new problems in their lives.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been working at Kaiser since 2002.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I am proud to work at Kaiser Permanente because I deeply value our integrated system in which staff members of each discipline and department can coordinate care on members' behalf. I also appreciate having the flexibility to tailor my work to each individual member's personal style and needs.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

My deepest interest is in working with seniors. I also have a great interest in helping family members who may be caring for seniors.

On a Personal Note. . .

I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines in the 1980s, an experience which led me to choose a career in helping others. I learned through my Peace Corps work that when people come together, they can always do something to improve any situation, no matter how difficult it looks, at first.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
