About Me

Thanks for visiting my web page! I joined Kaiser after a circuitious path, starting from an MD/PhD who focused on cancer immunology doing basic science research, to my current role here at Kaiser Permanente East Bay as a radiologist specializing in abdominal and chest imaging, with a focus on the cancers that affect these parts of the body as well as an interest in cardiac imaging. The mystery of the human body and the effective and efficient diagnosis of its problems are what captivate my mind these days, a change from the cells and molecules of my graduate work.

While radiology has an integral role in modern healthcare, you'll typically only meet me directly during procedures that your main doctor may request that will need imaging guidance, such as a breast biopsy, fluoroscopic study, or a joint injection. But my fellow radiologists and I are certainly behind the scenes, involved in quality control and interpretation of the X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, and mammogram studies that have become an important part of each and every patient's clinical evaluation. Additionally, we are the specialists that expedite imaging based diagnostic workups and serve as consultants for a number of specialized conferences, including multidisciplinary tumor boards.

With the help of your primary care physicians, I strive to do my best to keep you healthy and thriving. In my view, Kaiser is a great place to practice medicine in the 21st century because doctors are able to focus on the art and science of medicine rather than the business. We are encouraged to provide the best possible care for our patients and we are supported in this pursuit of excellence by our leadership. Last, but by no means least, the outstanding, collegial, and committed colleagues I work with every day make the job all the more satisfying. Kaiser Permanente East Bay Radiology is a group known throughout the Bay Area for the high standard of care provided to our referring clinicians and patients.

As an East Coast transplant, outside of work I'm usually found with my family wholeheartedly enjoying all of the great diverse activities the Bay Area has to offer, ranging from biking up the coast to chowing down at a great neighborhood eatery to zipping up to wine country for harvest. If you see us, stop by and share your favorite Bay Area destinations with us!

Also, I am a Conversational Mandarin speaker.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
