Welcome to my home page!

I practice Radiology with a dynamic group of well trained, motivated Radiologists here at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center. We are all dedicated to providing high quality professional service in an expeditious manner with patient care foremost in mind.

I grew up on a farm in Michigan. I became interested in medicine as a young child when I was “cured” of otitis by the new wonder drug penicillin. I received my M.D. from the University of Michigan on an accelerated program. I then interned at the University of Oregon, following which I was drafted. Upon completion of my military service I returned to the University of Michigan for residency in Radiology, which at that time was a combined program of Diagnostic, Therapeutic and Nuclear Radiology. This was followed by a fellowship in Cardiovascular-Interventional Angiography and Neuroradiology. I remained of staff at the University Hospital for a year prior to coming to California where I have been ever since.

I am interested in all aspects of diagnostic imaging as well as all aspects of interventional radiology.

On a personal note…

I have had a long-standing interest in reading, mainly history. I also am interested in travel and travel photography. Currently much of my “spare” time has been involved in home projects since the day my wife and I bought a custom designed “fixer-upper.” There is not enough space allowed here to relate our travail in proper detail.

My recommendations…

I recommend that everyone have a primary care physician who can direct all aspects of their health care, including ordering the appropriate imaging studies when indicated, consulting with imaging department physicians and interpreting results of the studies with their patients in the context of other findings and aspects of the patient’s medical condition.

My philosophy of care…

In dealing with people, I always think to myself, “Is this a family member? How would I want them to be treated?” When it all boils down, even if you are not my family member, you are someone’s family member – and as such deserve the best possible care I can provide. This philosophy colors every aspect of each patient interaction.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
