My Biography

I joined Kaiser Permanente, whose history includes the foundations of managed care and health care for workers. I was drawn to Kaiser Permanente because of the diversity of people and cultures, the abundant opportunities to learn and share knowledge, and the wonderful colleagues in the Department of Psychiatry and beyond. I remain here not only for these reasons, but also for my patients, who continue to impress and amaze me every day.

Having trained at a variety of health care settings, I appreciate our integrated health care system, which facilitates communication between patients and their health care providers, as well as communication amongst providers. This integration is one of the reasons our quality of care is so excellent.

Life is not only about surviving, but also about thriving. Flourishing is an essential part of life, and I strive to assist my patients in this process. A healthy mind is a work in progress, and mental illness can be an opportunity to find health and meaning in life. My tips for thriving: Remember what’s important. Be real. Be compassionate. Have a good belly laugh regularly. In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and appreciating nature.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
