About Myself

Born at Kaiser Oakland, I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and received my bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Cruz. I then lived on the South Island of New Zealand for 7 years where I received my BA in Physiotherapy. I returned to the Bay Area to begin my practice in Physical Therapy in 1999 and have been working with Kaiser ever since.

In my free time I enjoy mountain biking, backcountry skiing, photography, knitting and spending time with friends and family, and most notably…chasing my toddler!

About My Practice

I was inspired to join Kaiser due to its integrated care and team-based approach. I began working in Kaiser San Francisco, where I spent two years in the Outpatient Physical Therapy department, followed by three years in the Occupational Health Physical Therapy department. After starting a family in 2005, I transferred to Kaiser San Rafael and have been developing a special interest in women’s health physical therapy. I help women with conditions including pelvic floor dysfunction which encompasses incontinence and pelvic pain, as well as pregnancy-related musculoskeletal issues. I also co-teach a Successful Bladder Control class offered through our Health Education department. I find working with this patient population extremely rewarding as there is much to be gained both personally and functionally from improvements in these areas.

Part of my schedule continues to be devoted to the general outpatient population. I enjoy helping patients with acute, chronic, and post-surgical conditions manage their pain and regain function. I am committed to helping members help themselves to remain fit and active throughout their lives.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe strongly that we are each responsible for taking a proactive role in improving and maintaining our health, both mind and body. As a physical therapist I believe my role is to facilitate the body’s natural response of healing. I enjoy helping people look at both their functional activities and their physical environment to help determine specific contributing factors to their problems. We work together to find a personalized program to achieve functional goals. A successful outcome with a Physical Therapy treatment plan will always involve the patient’s active participation and commitment.

My Credentials:
Bachelor of Arts in Biology, University of California at Santa Cruz
Bachelor of Arts in Physiotherapy, University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand)
Physical Therapy License issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California

Began Practice: 1999
Joined Kaiser: 1999

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
