My Practice Philosophy

My goal is to provide the highest quality of care using evidence based practices and treating each patient with respect and compassion. I value patient’s feedback and believe that communication between doctor and patient is the key to successful healthcare.

About Me

I was born and raised in North Central Illinois. Bureau, Illinois is the small town (about 350 people) that I call home and is the place that my parents, grandparents and brother all reside. I received my BS in Speech and Hearing Science and my Doctorate of Audiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

My audiology externship year was completed at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary. During this year, I worked with people of all ages, dispensed hearing aids, and had the opportunity to work with patients who received auditory implants. I also worked in coordination with my supervisor to complete a research project that involved individuals who had received an auditory brainstem implant. This experience was very rewarding because of the relationships I was able to build with this unique group of individuals.

During the first three years of my graduate program, I had the opportunity to work at several different facilities throughout Central Illinois and the Chicago area. These facilities primarily consisted of medical centers and outpatient clinics, where I gain experience in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing impairment and vestibular/balance disorders.

Professional Affiliations

I am a licensed audiologist through the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board and am certified through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

My Interests

While I enjoy working with all age groups, I take a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing impairment in children. This included early identification of hearing impairment through the newborn hearing screening program, as well as the continued follow up care for children during early childhood and adolescence.

Recent Adventures

The summer of 2011 brought great changes to my life. I packed up everything I owned into the back of my dad’s pickup truck and together my parents and I drove across the country so that I could start a life on the West Coast.

Although I have relocated to the West Coast, my blood runs orange and blue and so I enjoy all things Fighting Illinois and Chicago Bears! When I am not cheering on my sports teams, I enjoy hiking, cooking and exploring local restaurants and entertainment. As a newcomer, I look forward to experiencing all that the Bay Area has to offer!

What I am Currently Reading

When I am not reading about current issues in the field of audiology, I am reading fiction novels. My most recent readings include Gregory Maguire’s Wicked series of novels, with the anticipation of the fourth and final novel to be released November 2011.
