“…expertise cures. But not everything worth knowing is in test results nor can it be learned in books.
Not every illness can be cured, but most spirits can be healed. For the healing of suffering is compassion not expertise…”
A quote from a patient of mine with a chronic illness

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001 as a hospitalist. I have been working primarily at Roseville and occasionally at the Sacramento campus. On a part time basis, I have been involved in the teaching of residents as a UC Davis volunteer clinical faculty member.

During this time, I have worked with the most respectable, competent and just all around great group of people.

My Healthcare Practice

As a hospitalist, I care for patients who are severely ill and require hospitalization. The majority of my patients actually have two, three and often more intercurrent conditions. I usually admit my patients from the emergency department and care for them until they are discharged.

I also have the unique privilege of caring for patients at the end of life. This is a time when the patient’s and physician’s humanity is at the forefront. Amazingly, my experience is that the bond forged with my dying patient and their family seems to never fade.

My Healthcare Philosophy

My daily practice of medicine often places me face to face with many difficult decisions and dilemmas. When a difficult decision has to be made I try to focus on a course of action that would treat the patient as a person and not just the illness. When dilemmas arise, I find that asking the question “What would I do if this patient were a member of my family?” brings a sense of faith that the right thing will be done. I also believe that a good doctor is always learning.

My Credentials

Internship San Joaquin General Hospital, French Camp, CA

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
