About Me

Welcome to my web page. I have included some information on my background and my current work at Kaiser Permanente to make you feel more at home should you find that we meet in the Emergency Department some day. I received my undergraduate degree in biology at Stanford University. I received my medical training in the Los Angeles area. I graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine in 1980 and completed an internship and residency at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center in 1983. I have learned enough Spanish in school and in training to effectively communicate in most cases with those who speak only Spanish. After working in a community hospital for a number of years, I came to Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek in 1992.

Kaiser Permanente is a great place to receive your health care. Physicians in different departments work together to try to determine how best to fulfill your health care needs without a cumbersome approval process that hampers many plans. We try to use the resources we have wisely to give our patients high quality, affordable medical care.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
