Welcome to My Home Page!

My Philosophy

As my work focuses on the treatment of children and adolescents with medication, I believe in a team approach that includes the patient, their family, and myself as a prescribing consultant. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), I have been trained to care for the whole patient within the context of their environment - their family life, their academic life, and their social life. This is very important to me. In addition, I feel it is vital to consider medication as only a part of any solution for the challenges facing the families in my care. Therefore, working together as a team with the family leads to the best outcomes and solutions.

My Work

I have the privilege of practicing with both the Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill / Martinez Child and Family Teams. In Walnut Creek my practice is devoted to the Adolescent Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorders programs as well as psychopharmacology. In Pleasant Hill / Martinez my practice is focused on individuals and their medication needs.

My Colleagues

I have had the pleasure of working with the wonderful people of the Child and Family Teams of Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill / Martinez since 2002, when I joined Kaiser Permanente as a nurse practitioner. The emphasis on a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, medication providers (child psychiatrists and nurse practitioners), and our outstanding support staff is without equal in my experience. Each team member strives for excellence so that every day I feel proud to be a part of these teams. I work closely with the pediatricians and pediatric specialists such as neurology and endocrinology to provide the best and most comprehensive care that I can for each of my patients.

Professional Associations

I am a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the California Association of Nurse Practitioners. I have had nurse practitioner training in Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.

Office Hours

I am in the Walnut Creek Office on Monday & Tuesday from 8-12pm (noon). The phone number is: (925)295-4145.

I am available at the Pleasant Hill/ Martinez Office on Tuesday afternoons, all day Wednesdays, and Friday's until 2:30 p.m. The phone number is: (925)688-8910.

About Me

When I am not available in the office I am working outdoors on my family's ranch. Beyond my family, my passions are horses and three day eventing - a competitive riding discipline that is an Olympic level sport. I believe in the overall goodness of people, in personal integrity and hard work as the cornerstones of my life.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
