I am proud to be the newest member of the Kaiser ER team and excited to be working here in Sacramento taking care of patients like you. The path which brings me here is a long and winding one.

I was actually born in a Kaiser hospital in the Bay Area but grew up in northern Colorado where I developed a love of the mountains and the great outdoors. I attended college and medical school at the University of Colorado and then entered the U.S. Navy. Somewhere along the way, I saw the movie “Top Gun” and developed a “need for speed.” I was fortunate to serve the U.S. Marine Corps as a Naval Flight Surgeon which allowed me to travel the world in an F/A-18 fighter aircraft. After leaving active duty, I attended residency in Emergency Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago but remained in the Navy Reserve until 2006, having attained the rank of Commander. It was a great honor to serve one combat tour in Iraq in 2005.

I have been practicing full-time Emergency and Trauma Medicine since 1997, and I still love it. I find it extremely fascinating to meet new people everyday and attempt to solve their different problems. For the last seven years, I have been practicing at a Trauma

Center in Pensacola, Florida where I also supervised Life Flight and EMS.

Kaiser’s philosophy of freeing physicians from other burdens to focus on caring for patients has drawn me here to Sacramento. That and the tremendous team of physicians and nurses at South Sacramento Medical Center made it an easy decision to move across country.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver, CO
Internship Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA
Residency Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
