Welcome to my home page

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I attended the University of San Francisco and then went to medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine, where I met my wife-to-be and decided that I'd rather live in California.

After completing my internal medicine residency and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, I stayed on as faculty with the UC Davis School of Medicine for four years prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 1999.

I am currently the Director of Critical Care and the Medical Director of the Adult Asthma Management Program at the South Sacramento facility. I am the Chair of the Northern California Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Chief's Group. I also am a Co-Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program for our Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region.

I also have a life outside the office. I’m married to an intelligent and understanding woman and have two great sons. I enjoy spending time with my family, soccer, fishing, cycling, and listening to almost all genres of music.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
