My Biography
The Chronic Pain Management Center affords me the opportunity to work with a truly professional, interdisciplinary team. My colleagues are caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable, each with expertise in their respective fields. We are all dedicated to our patients. Our team takes patients’ pain seriously, providing integrated, practical treatment plans to help members manage their pain.
I enjoy helping patients attain their quality-of-life goals and improve their level of functioning. Our members tend to make significant progress in a relatively brief time period. As part of my clinic work, I coordinate the Intensive Day Program, participate in the evening Reconditioning Groups, and work with individual patients. In addition, I provide health psychology consultation for the Center for Chronic Pelvic Pain at 2238 Geary, and this summer I will be piloting a group devoted to managing pelvic pain. Areas of special interest for me include stress management, the relationship between trauma and pain, sexuality and intimacy, and positive psychology, with a focus on strengths, resiliency, and growth.
San Francisco is a wonderful city in which to work for many reasons. I love the diversity that I encounter at the medical center, and I have the privilege of interacting with members of all different backgrounds. I also enjoy the Bay Area for its natural beauty and spend as much time as possible outdoors.
Kaiser Permanente’s THRIVE campaign is a really positive message, and I thrive by walking to work most days, swimming, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, trying to cook organically and from scratch, and making time for relaxation at the end of my day. As a woman balancing career and family demands, it is important to nurture myself as well as others. During my free time, I explore the Bay Area with my family and try to squeeze in creative pursuits like writing. I am happily married with one child and a purebred Shiba Inu named Hanako.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
