TO MY HOME PAGE!
I grew up in Bombay, India, and came to the USA in the 80's on a research scholarship, fell in love, and decided to stay.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I was a scientist at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, in the field of computers and electronics. I decided to enroll in medical school because I felt medicine would be a more fulfilling profession. I decided to become an internist and a hospital-based specialist (HBS) because of the wide variety of medical problems that we are called upon to solve, and the high degree of challenge these fields present.
I joined Kaiser Permanente because I felt the health care model it represents is highly conducive to the most rational and humane way to dispense health care. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1990, first as a clinic physician in Fairfield and Vacaville; over the past decade I have been a member of the HBS department in Vallejo.
I believe that the best way to approach health care is a preventive approach and a healthy lifestyle.
My other interests include technology, bicycling, backpacking, and world travel, having traveled to some of the most remote and challenging areas on Earth. Traveling has taught me the immense diversity that makes up the human family, and an appreciation for the tremendous history and the various cultures that define what we are today. In fact, one of the many reasons why I work for Kaiser Permanente is the immense diversity of people I work with, something that I value very much.
