Welcome to My Home Page

As your physician, I value my relationship with you. And I know that maintaining a good relationship means being able to communicate with each other. My colleagues and I have developed home pages so that we can stay in touch with you more easily. Because the better connected we are, the healthier you are.

My Background

I attended Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea where I finished my internship, four years of radiology residency, and 1 year of neuroradiology/neurointerventional radiology fellowship. Then I moved to United States to learn from one of the best neurointerventional radiologists here. After this, instead of going back to Korea, I stayed in the U.S. I undertook six years of repeat training; one year of internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, four years of radiology residency at U.C. Davis Medical Center, and 1 year of neuroradiology/neurointerventional radiology fellowship at Stanford University Hospital. Upon finishing my training, I joined Kaiser Permanente at the end of 2008.

My Roles & Responsibilities

My time is split between two related fields: Neuroradiology, which centers on detecting brain and spinal abnormalities in adult and children using methods such as CT and MRI scanning. The other is Interventional Neuroradiology which involves brain and spinal angiography, embolization (the blocking of the blood supply) of cerebrospinal and head/neck vascular malformations, endovascular coiling of aneurysms, embolization of tumors prior to surgery, mechanical and chemical breaking up of blood clots in the setting of acute stroke, and vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty for painful compression fractures of the spine.

Our Staff

I am fortunate to work with a group of collegial and dedicated providers who have one goal at heart: taking care of our members the best way we know how. In the Kaiser Permanente system, there is no political or financial gain in treating patients--or overtreating as is sometimes the case--so we can focus on providing the best care for each individual based on his or her particular circumstances.

On a Personal Note. . .

I am married to a person who has the same specialty and subspecialty, which makes it easy to describe my day at work. We have three young children, a boy and twins girls. My hobbies are painting, playing piano, traveling the world (on hold for now), and watching ballet. I have not had any recent adventures due to three young kids. Although I suppose you could say that this in itself is an adventure.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
