My Biography
I was born, grew up and finished medical school in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia. I became a physician not by an accident but following the family tradition – I am the third generation of doctors in my family and I am very happy that after so many years I can say that I made the right choice and I love my profession. I started as an orthopedic surgeon but after 10 years of practicing surgery, I decided to change my profile to Rehabilitation Medicine.
Later, I came to the USA and went through the required training here once more: I completed my residency and two fellowships. One of my fellowships was at Stanford University; I loved the Bay area and I have always wanted to come back, and when an opportunity came by, I seized it without any hesitation. I did not know about Kaiser Permanente before joining it, but I am very happy now that I work here: I can practice medicine the way I have always wanted--without worrying about extraneous office concerns.
I believe that every patient who complains about chronic pain has a real reason, and I believe that most of the time they can be helped. The work can be very difficult, but when we (I mean our multidisciplinary team) are able to improve someone’s quality of life, it is very rewarding.
I am an avid reader. During my leisure time I also enjoy watching movies, cooking and exercising. I am happily married, with a daughter and a grandson.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
