Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Hello, and welcome to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento, Psychiatry Department! I have worked in Stockton since 2002, and recently transferred to the South Sacramento facility, where I see members in Occupational Medicine as well as Psychiatry. Our departments strive to care about your welfare, and delivers treatments that are research-based and effective. I am proud to work with my colleagues – and with you.

About Me

In terms of my education and credentials, my undergraduate work was done in Denver and Boston in both Special Education and Psychology. I completed my Master of Science Degree in Biological Psychology from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey and continued to complete all the coursework for a Doctor of Philosophy degree.

Realizing that I liked people more than lab rats, I decided to obtain my Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1986. I am in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and was granted a Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. I am licensed by the California Board of Psychology as a Clinical Psychologist (License number PSY18368).

I have had several jobs over the years: working in state mental hospitals, private medical facilities and outpatient clinics. For ten years, I ran my own private practice in a somewhat rural area outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Since I was the only psychologist in that particular area, I gained experience with clients who were suffering a wide range of problems. My work included treating children, adolescents, and adults and I served as a consultant at several hospitals. Now I am quite contented as a member of our Adult Services Team.

Philosophy of Care

To me, the most important variable in the successful treatment of mental health problems is careful attention to the unique needs of each individual. Another critical part of providing good care is recognizing that having an emotional or behavioral problem does not alter a person’s intelligence and self-insight.

Finally, while it is true that outsiders can see things about us we might not be aware of, it is equally true that no one ever knows what it feels like to walk in someone else’s shoes. I may know the status of research and what has worked for other clients, but you are the only one who knows how you feel and what you are willing to do.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
