Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to my Internet Home Page. Thank you for your interest and taking the time to learn more about me and the Radiology Department at Kaiser Permanente Stockton. There are a number of links to clinical information, as well as a link to the web sites of other members of our department. You can even use this site to refill prescriptions, or request an appointment with your personal physician.

About Me

I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in Sioux City of Iowa, a true Midwesterner for much of my early life. I received undergraduate and medical degrees from University of Oklahoma, located at Norman and Oklahoma City. In the fourth year of medical school I was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. Internship followed at San Francisco General Hospital in San Francisco. I completed my diagnostic radiology residency at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and served as an instructor in radiology at San Francisco General Hospital through UCSF. A fellowship in nuclear medicine was completed at Letterman Army Medical Center at San Francisco during my tour of duty in the U.S. Army. In the many years of practicing radiology I have witnessed incredible changes in the field of medical imaging which has made it both exciting and challenging.

I chose to pursue my career in medicine because I have always been interested in science and the application of science in life. Medicine was just a natural route to follow in pursuit of my interests in biological science. I am attracted to the practice of radiology as a Kaiser Permanente physician because I appreciate and value the integration of all medical disciplines with a single goal in mind – to provide quality of care to the patients served.

I was attracted to Central Valley because of my positive experience as a pool radiologist working with the radiology team, observing that all team members showed the same dedication to excellence in patient care.

I am married to my wonderful wife, Marcia. We have two sons - one is an aerospace engineer in El Segundo, CA as well as a national award winning brewmaster; the other is a network operations manager for a startup company in Emeryville, CA that transmits cable and commercial television over cell-phones.

When not working in radiology I enjoy traveling to exotic places, gardening with my wife, downhill skiing, hiking, and boating.

My Philosophy of Care

I have always felt fortunate and honored to be able to practice medicine. I have witnessed the strength of the human spirit and courage shown by many when confronting difficult decisions in illness. Medicine has made huge advances to be sure, but as much as we have learned about the science of health and sickness there is much we do not. Compassion is critical in filling the void that science cannot.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to participating in your care.
