My Biography
Kaiser Permanente’s comprehensive health care model enables me to make seamless referrals for patients. Members benefit from being able to complete all of their tests and labs in a single visit, all while they are on-site. eConsult, our EEG order processing tool, ensures that no patients are lost or forgotten. Providers are able to track a patient from the moment they enter the system. In short, at Kaiser Permanente patients enjoy a full circumference of care.
Areas of special interest to me include pediatric epilepsy monitoring, especially for petit mal. In Pediatrics, deciphering EEGs and the underlying neurology is often more challenging, requiring high-level reasoning, puzzle-solving, and investigative skills in order to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. I’ve made some incredible discoveries with regards to epilepsy during my time in this department. Frequently, parents are surprised to learn that their child’s acting-out behavior stems from cortical or seizure-related issues and not from deliberate, willful misbehavior. I enjoy working with kids and like to provide them and their parents with a little extra attention. Families coming to see me are usually deeply concerned, stressed, or frightened about the child’s medical condition, and I consider it a triumph when I’m able to elicit a smile from them.
I keep healthy and active through drinking plenty of water, and eating a variety of many types of foods but not too much of any one group. I don’t believe there is such a thing as a “bad” food. Moderation is the key. Outside of work I like skiing (my passion!), cooking, reading, and watching movies. I have a new pet cat, a long-haired tabby, and I think we’re going to be best friends!

Why a Pediatrician
Why a pediatrician? Why do kids need a specialist? Because kids are different. And so are the doctors that choose to take care of kids.
Pediatrics is the medical specialty that is fully focused on kids: from birth through the exciting and tumultuous years of adolescence.
Pediatricians are trained for 4 years in medical school to become a doctor and then have three full years of extra training in how to take care of kids and teens. Some pediatricians have additional training in a subspecialty area like cardiology, pulmonology, or hematology. Our department has general pediatricians and specialist pediatricians to make sure that your children stay healthy and, if they get sick, that they get the best care possible.
Pediatricians believe that your children start healthy. We are trained to focus on prevention of problems and work with families for the betterment of children. We love children and, in truth, most of us are big kids ourselves.
In the pediatric department, we look forward to caring for your family as it grows.
