Thank you for visiting my home page. I am honored and privileged to work in what I consider the best emergency room in town. I moved to Elk Grove, California in 1987 after completing my residency training at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. I have worked in the Sacramento area since I moved to Elk Grove, California and joined the Kaiser Permanente Team in July 2008, after they gained approval to become a Trauma Center. I wanted to be part of a team that provided great care to my neighbors, their families and friends.

I became interested in medicine after joining the Navy in 1972, right out of high school. I ended up being a Corpsman and the experiences I had led me to medicine. I excelled in pediatrics and obstetrics during medical school but seemed to need the challenge that emergency medicine brings. I have been associated with the University of California Davis Medical Center since 1987 and have also maintained a relationship with the military. I serve as a Medical Corps Officer in the United States Army Reserves. I returned from my 6th deployment in November 2008.

My wife and five children provide me the support and inspiration needed to work hard and do the right thing. Although disease, pain, and tragedies cannot all be prevented, compassion and love will always make a difference. My goal is to maintain a good attitude, smile and make a difference.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, UT
Residency Los Angeles County/University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
