Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Hi, my name is Dr. Fidel Rebeles. I am a radiologist. Radiologists interpret a broad range of imaging studies including MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and traditional x-ray films of the entire body. We also perform image-guided procedures such as biopsies.

About me

I was born in Visalia, CA, located just south of Fresno in the Central Valley. After high school in Visalia, I went to Stanford University, Stanford, CA where I completed a degree in Chemical Engineering. After four wonderful years in college I headed east to Boston, MA where I completed my medical degree at Harvard University. New England was (and is) a fascinating meeting ground for national traditions and cutting edge science. After four frigid Bostonian winters, I decided to return to the west coast and completed my internship, residency and fellowship at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, WA. My training in the busy UW system gave me a broad exposure to radiology as I worked in the only university hospital, level 1 trauma center, children’s hospital, and VA (Veterans Affairs) system for the entire WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho). After my fellowship, I stayed at UW for a year as an attending physician in neuroradiology before deciding to return home to the Central Valley.

Perhaps surprisingly, my decision to become a physician came rather late as I never had aspirations of pursuing a career in medicine before college. In fact, I had been planning on becoming an engineer because I had a natural aptitude for and greatly enjoyed math, science, and technology. During my sophomore year at Stanford, I decided that I wanted to help people in a more tangible way and decided to do so through a career in medicine. Despite my change in focus, I completed my engineering degree out of personal interest. Early in medical school by chance I encountered a field that fuses my interests in math, physics, technology and medicine: Radiology. I have been very fortunate in doing something I profoundly enjoy while being involved in helping people feel better. Within radiology I most enjoy neuroradiology which involves imaging the head, neck and spine using a variety of modalities including CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and catheter angiography.

I decided to return to the Central Valley for family reasons. My extended family including uncles, aunts, cousins, and my maternal grandmother still live in the Central Valley. I have fond memories of growing up surrounded by orange groves and vineyards, enjoying the hot, always sunny summers and the cool, foggy winters. I’m back home!

I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente because I believe that the collegial, team-based approach to medicine is the best way to practice medicine. Physicians can concentrate on practicing medicine without worrying about the financial side. Kaiser Permanente and its physicians are dedicated to providing the best and most compassionate care for our members.

Outside of medicine I enjoy staying active by working out at the gym regularly, jogging, playing tennis and reading at home. Since we are so close to the coast and the mountains, I hope to continue to take advantage of weekend trips to both. Besides English, I am fluent in Spanish and use it frequently to chat with my parents who live in Modesto and my extended family in Visalia and Mexico.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe in not only treating patients the way that I would treat my own family members, but I strive to treat patients the way they want to be treated. This means trying to be sensitive to cultural differences, so communication and compassion are important starting points. Kaiser Permanente has outstanding facilities and my goal is to work with my fellow physicians to use this cutting-edge technology efficiently to provide the best possible patient care.
